T ake your deck boating into new territory with Ebbtide’s new 2400 Single Console FC O/B, the company’s second foray into the saltwater market (it also makes a 2100 SC FC O/B model). Hopping aboard the boat on Percy Priest Lake on a beautiful sunny day, you’re tempted to dance a jig around all the open space featured on the 2400. Instead, you wisely opt to take a seat in the captain’s chair and focus your energies on putting the boat through the paces. The 2400 cruises to a top speed of 49.5 mph, and the boat handles nicely at wide-open throttle. The hull feels solid as you take it through turns at 40-plus mph, and pushing the throttle full steam ahead through another boat’s wake suggests the 2400 would handle just fine in choppier water.

Notable features on the 2400 SC include the changing room/head under the starboard-side console, and the entertainment center with cooler and sink that’s located on the port side across from the captain’s seat. There’s a good-sized ski locker in the bow and lots of seating. The boat lacks a sunpad and swim platform — a necessary sacrifice in exchange for the outboard engine and added interior space — but you can compensate by getting an optional filler cushion.
