Yamaha Pros Take Top Honors At Bassmaster Classic

Yamaha professional fishermen take first, second and fourth place at competition.

Yamaha-sponsored professional fishermen Alton Jones, Cliff Pace and Bobby Lane took first, second and fourth place, respectively, at the 2008 Bassmaster Classic held recently on Lake Hartwell in Greenville, S.C.

Jones, who fished from a Yamaha V MAX Series 2-powered Skeeter, brought in a winning total weight of 49 pounds, 7 ounces during the three-day event, netting him the $500,000 grand prize.

Cliff Pace brought in a cumulative bass weight of 44 pounds, 5 ounces, while Bobby Lane brought in 42 pounds, 7 ounces. Both Pace and Lane ran on a Skeeter 20I boat powered by a Yamaha V Max Series 2, VZ250 engine.

Kevin VanDam took third place in the event, which marked Yamaha’s return as the tournament’s official outboard sponsor.
