Find out which seven easy repairs can lead to larger, more expensive repairs if you don't take care of them. You can find this story in the September/October issue of Boating World - the first issue combining articles from Go Boating and Boating World magazines. Also, don't miss our guide to winterizing. New technology can make winterizing more complicated, but our guide will get you through it. We also feature professional tips on detailing your boat and we put a nonboating family - including their 6-year-old daughter - at the helm of a six-figure boat with the Axius joystick system. See how they fared. And don't miss your monthly dose of gear reviews, engine and boat maintenance tips, do-it-yourself projects and boat tests.
Avoid Launch Ramp Ridicule
For most boaters, the fun starts once the boat is in the water. But getting there can be a real ordeal. Aligning the trailer tongue and the hitch ball can be tough. And then there is the dreaded moment at the landing when you will have to back the boat into the water in front of all the other boaters waiting for their turn at the ramp.

Cruiser Nouveau
At first glance, the 2009 Bayliner 245 Cruiser might look like a "refreshed" version of the model that preceded it, which is "boat speak" for "we made a couple of minor changes and called it a new boat."

No Experience, No Problem
The Formula 370 Super Sport with twin 425 hp MerCruiser sterndrives idles down the canal toward Biscayne Bay in Miami. Although the driver has never piloted a boat before, she isn't making the usual rookie mistakes of overcorrecting and swerving. The line is straight and the driver is in total control.

Coat Your Deck
Upkeep is essential in order to keep it operating properly and looking good year in and year out, especially older models. I own a 1980 17-foot Boston Whaler that's in pretty good shape, although the weather, lots of use and time have taken their toll.

Scouting New Territory
Scout president Steve Potts isn't one of those boat company presidents who drop by engineering from time to time to see how a new boat is coming along. Potts is involved with a boat from the first concept sketches to when the final bolt on the real boat is tightened.

Formula for Fun
One of the fastest-growing segments of new boat design we've seen recently is bigger bowriders. While some are basically 25-footers on steroids with nothing other than size to distinguish them from the smaller boats, the Formula 310 Bow Rider takes this genre to a new level of sophistication.
