Coast Guard Shows Off Fast New Boat

 The call, "Coming up" rose from the pilot's seat as the thrust of the jet propulsion system pushed the boat's bow up onto a plane and the 45-foot watercraft streaked across the ocean swells.

Under a clear blue sky, members of U.S. Coast Guard Station Ponce de Leon Inlet in New Smyrna Beach introduced the media to the station's newest addition, a high-tech Response Boat — Medium, RB-M for short.

Within seconds, Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Douglas Strong said, "We're going faster than the old (47-foot Motor Life Boat) could go."
