Deckboats too tame for your bold personality? Not anymore with Hurricane’s new SunDeck 2400 X-Treme, the in-your-face watersports boat that gives you all the attitude you want with the room and comfort your family needs.
Start with a bold X-Treme graphics package and an aggressive fold-down watersports tower with standard wakeboard racks and you are off to a flying start. The Thunder and Lightning sound system has four cockpit speakers with tweeters sprinkled around for crisp high ends. A pair of Polk Audio coffee can twin speakers are on the tower.

Unlike most other watersports boats, the 2400 X-Treme is powered by Yamaha’s F250 four-stroke. This makes it a good choice for coastal boaters who frequently encounter shallow areas. Our test boat is equipped with Yamaha’s Command Link electronic control, previously only available on the F350 V-8, which made for ultra-smooth shifts and throttle control. Acceleration was very linear as we reached plane in 4.3 seconds and 30 mph in 6.3 seconds. Top speed was 48.4 mph, which is pretty fast considering the drag the tower and its canvas top create.
We tested the Hurricane SunDeck (ha!) in frosty conditions with snow flurries and were grateful for the dam that blocked off the cockpit from low temperatures in the 30s rushing in at nearly 50 mph. The northeast wind made Lake Wawasee in northern Indiana choppy and the Hurricane handled the conditions well, even though its 16 degrees of deadrise is relatively flat. No doubt the satisfying 3,735 pounds of dry weight contributed to the comfortable ride.
Inside the cockpit are the creature comforts you expect from Hurricane, like the L-lounge area complete with a removable cockpit table and a large entertainment center with running water. A large head compartment resides in the port console, and there are 15 cupholders strategically placed. Up front, the 24-footer has a roomy bowriding section and chaise lounges.
