Destination: Big Pine Key

It didn’t take long to get our bearings when we crossed the historic Seven Mile Bridge and arrived in Big Pine Key, scanning the sandy coral cay: spotted palm leaves swaying in the soft Atlantic breeze, with the sweet smell of saltwater in the air. The 10-square-mile island atop Florida’s famed Lower Keys was buzzing.
