River Traffic Reached its Heyday Here in 1892

There was a time when the city — or rather the village — of Winona was dependent on the Mississippi River for its existence, when the Father of Waters was the artery of transportation and while Wabasha Prairie — the site of Winona — what is little more than a stopping place for steamboats.
