BOONTON TWP. — Eleven canoeists from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association launched their boats by Powerville Falls at Griffith Park Nov. 2 for their last trip of the season.
Their canoes were sheer poetry on water as they glided the 2.5 river miles up the Rockaway River to Tourne County Park, where the group enjoyed a fall lunch.
Colors of fall foliage lined the route and reflected in the water all around the paddlers. Bicyclists stopped to look at the placid scene and residents along the river emerged from their homes to wave.
