Farm Ponds Produce Ice Fishing Action

There are few better ways to spend a winter morning than fishing through the ice on one of Siouxland’s many farm ponds.

These small bodies of water are often full of fish willing to bite just about any time of the year.

That’s what Gary Howey, Hartington, Neb., and I did last week. We selected a pond a few miles northeast of Hartington, Neb. We had fished it last summer from my Grumman Sport Canoe and Howey, once again, proved what a great lure the Mepps spinner is when it comes to catching farm pond fish.
