When Sher Johnson found out that Betty Pointer, 88, had never been on a boat and would love to go on a boat ride, she decided to make Pointer’s wish come true.
But then that is exactly what Johnson, activity director at Gilman Park Assisted Living in Oregon City, loves to do — make wishes come true for her seniors.
“During exercise class we use swim noodles and pretend we are rowing, canoeing and kayaking with our ‘paddles.’ When I asked everyone what their favorite type of boat is, Betty told me she had never been on a boat before,” Johnson said.
