People unhappy about a lagoon in Beckwourth Riverfront Park (CA) that is hindering Feather River access for boaters decided to wade in and help out on Monday.
Charles Nott of Marysville said the space is filled with sand and hydrilla, and would take about an hour’s work with an excavator to clear the muck. He is concerned not only about red tape, but also about out-of-towners who might end up going to Yuba City to launch, thus sending tourism dollars to the other side of the river.
“The state of the city now, compared to 20 years ago, is disgusting,” Nott said. “Now all we hear is, ‘We can’t do that, we don’t have the funding.'”
