The oncoming fall and winter weather conditions test the durability of New England’s fishermen.
For the local fleet, some will bear through the winter with their core target fishery in either groundfish or lobsters, even though the species themselves acclimate to different behavior during these cold months. As imagined, it’s not the most pleasant conditions to operate under but fishermen bear through it, picking the best weather windows of opportunity with consideration to the size of their vessel, safety and the needed physical stamina.
