Goldfish in Colorado Lake

Goldfish in Colorado LakeAn exotic, nonnative species has infiltrated Teller Lake #5 in Boulder, Colo. Goldfish have been reproducing in the water, and the population has grown to enormous proportions. Likely released into the lake as unwanted pets — or an extreme case of a pet-owner’s guilt gone awry after one too many viewings of “Finding Nemo” — the goldfish will need to be removed in order to preserve the lake’s aquatic ecosystem. This isn’t the first time a lake has seen nonnative fish species. In 2012, koi goldfish were also removed from Boulder’s Thunderbird Lake.
