NMMA Opposes Bill Allowing Lake of the Ozarks Residents to Create No-Wake Zones

Residents living along the shores of the Lake of the Ozarks would be able to create no-wake zones in the many coves of the lake, according to House Bill 1591, pre-filed in Missouri by Rep. David Wood. At least 50 percent of homeowners must support the restriction, which would apply to any boat more than 26 feet long or one “designed to create a wake regardless of size,” a definition that appears to target ballasted boats.

NMMA, the Watersports Industry Association and the Lake of the Ozarks Marine Trades Association are prepared to oppose HB 1591 should it gain support among legislators, and will keep members updated. Rep. Wood has introduced similar bills in past years that failed to pass.
