Can An Autonomous Sailboat Cross the Atlantic?

No one has ever succeeded in sailing an unmanned boat across the Atlantic. Just a few teams have taken part in the Microtransat Challenge since it began in 2010, yet all have been unsuccessful. Reasons for their failure include being ensnared in a fishing net, being taken aboard a fishing vessel, or, more often than not, simply vanishing with a vague last-known location.
