Ohio Science Teacher Sets the New World Record for Rowing Solo Across the Atlantic

On June 27th, Bryce Carlson, a 37-year-old biology teacher from Cincinnati, Ohio, set off in his 20-foot boat, Lucille, from St. John’s, Newfoundland. After 38 days, six hours and 49 minutes of rowing, he had covered a distance of 2,000 miles, setting a new world record with an average speed of two knots.
