Do not let corrosion eat up your outdrive!
First we need to know what causes corrosion in aluminum outdrives. The problem is a small amount of DC current leaking into the water from the batteries on your boat or from other boats in the area. The current travels through the water, salt water is the best conductor, then brackish water. The water in our canals and the Caloosahatchee River is also a conductor, and to a lesser degree fresh water can conduct electrolysis to your outdrive.
