Shipshape at Last … Sea Dog’s Hull of an Effort to Build Boat

A pensioner who was bitten by the sailing bug aged 12 has taken his latest project for its maiden voyage — a decade after he started hand-building it.

John Guthrie, 75, has spent hundreds of hours, and thousands of pounds, constructing the 20-foot vessel. Named Fluke after the pointed hook of an anchor, the yacht is fitted with a cooker, sink and a stove.
